In the age of the internet and Instagram, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that everyone’s life online is beautiful, except for your own. It’s easy to spend hours upon hours scrolling through social media and drown in a sea of images of perfect people living their perfect lives. You feel like an outsider looking in. You don’t look like this guy or that girl, and you think that you never will. Suddenly every photo of you is wrong. Not bad, wrong. Your hair is too dark, or it’s too light. You have great eyes, but your teeth always distract from them. This is too big, or that is too small, and the list goes on and on. You feel as if you might as well never be in a photo again.

It’s almost impossible for someone to spend a couple of hours scrolling through social media (in one form or another, most people do) and not feel bad about the way that they look afterward. We see the highlight reel of other people's lives and feel bad about ourselves when we don’t fit the mold.
